By driving the bridge through its centre of gravity the Horizon’s design gains all the metrology benefits of a CMM with a raised Y axis guideway, but without having the inconvenience of associated limited access. Being non-contact, the linear motors will also have no wearing parts and provide the perfect solution for CMM drives, improving reliability and reducing maintenance.
